A Wiener Neustadt Band Builds Its Second Release From Slam, Hardcore and Death Metal
Crushing drums, vocals pushed to the limit and riffs the band itself calls filthy: that is how Bite To Break describe their formula. In My Head puts it on record in three and a half minutes. Released on 17 September 2026, the single comes from a band formed in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, in 2023, and it sits where slam, hardcore and death metal meet.
Bite To Break’s In My Head is in the playlist below, and the band’s coverage is collected on the Bite To Break artist profile. In My Head reached this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Play it loud, then keep reading.

The Wave Bite To Break Belong To, Where Slam and Death Metal Meet Hardcore Crowds
Heavy music has spent the last few years tearing down the wall between death metal and hardcore. Death metal bands now play to crowds raised on hardcore shows. In turn, hardcore bands borrow the low tuning, the slow breakdowns and the guttural vocals of death metal. Slam, the bluntest end of brutal death metal, sits right in the middle of that exchange.
Bite To Break name all three parts of the mix in their own profiles. Their bios list the formula as slam times hardcore times death metal, and they spell their genre tag phonetically, as ɡrɪndkoːə. In other words, the band tells you exactly where it stands before you press play.
The labels around them vary, however. Local press in Wiener Neustadt filed them under metalcore when they played the town’s open-air show in August. Havoc Underground described them the same way in an October feature. The band’s own description leans heavier, and both readings fit a single built on breakdowns and blunt riffs.
What matters for the listener is the result. In My Head is a short, direct track that keeps its focus on the riff and the drums. That is where this crossover has always done its best work.

Where Bite To Break Fit, From a Wiener Neustadt Garden Stage to Three Releases in 2026
The band’s local stage is a real one. On 1 August 2026, Bite To Break played the MÄX Rock & Metal Open Air in the Bürgermeistergarten in Wiener Neustadt. They shared the bill with the dialect rock of Hawidere, the death metal of Epsilon and the heavy rock of Zodiak. According to MeinBezirk, the crowd ran from headbangers to a moshpit despite a short burst of rain.
The recorded catalogue then moved quickly. In Between came out as a single on 16 July 2026. In My Head followed on 17 September, paired with In Between on a two-track release, and Death Bringer arrived on 15 October. Three releases in three months is a fast start for a band formed in 2023.
Havoc Underground also added the band’s songs to its Heavy Heavy Heavy playlist on Spotify. For a young independent act, a placement like that is how a heavy single reaches listeners outside its home town.

The Adjacent Acts, From Texas Beatdown to Cleveland Death Metal and the Wiener Neustadt Bill
Two better-known bands help place the sound. Kublai Khan TX, from Texas, built a large following on beatdown hardcore with metal weight. Their breakdowns are a template for much of what younger bands in this lane attempt. 200 Stab Wounds, from Cleveland, play old-school death metal to audiences that include many hardcore fans. Bite To Break sit between the two, with hardcore energy, death metal heft and slam’s taste for the lowest possible riff.
Closer to home, the adjacent acts are the bands on the same garden stage. Epsilon bring the death metal side of the Wiener Neustadt scene. Meanwhile, Zodiak and Hawidere show how wide the town’s heavy bill can be.
So the single suits listeners who want their heavy music direct. If a playlist mixes beatdown, slam and modern death metal, In My Head belongs on it.
From the RockRevival.News Curator Team: “In My Head stacks crushing drums under riffs built for a pit and keeps the whole thing under four minutes. Three releases in, Bite To Break already know exactly what they want to hit.”
