A Father and Son Gather Ten Songs Before US Dates with Texas Hippie Coalition
Two people make all the noise on USA, Vol. 1, and it rarely sounds like two. VaterSon are a father-and-son rock duo from Malmö, Jimmy and André Drexler. Their ten-song collection came out in October 2026. It gathers the songs they carried to the United States for three nights opening for Texas Hippie Coalition, from 23 to 25 October.
VaterSon’s These City Streets sits in the playlist below with our hard rock, heavy rock and arena rock picks. VaterSon’s artist profile collects the duo’s coverage. USA, Vol. 1 reached RockRevival.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news sites. Listen to the album, then keep reading for where this father-and-son rock duo fits.

VaterSon Join the Rock Duo Tradition of Sounding Bigger Than a Two-Piece Line-Up
The two-piece rock band is an old trick with a simple goal: fill the room without filling the stage. Still, the best of them find a way to make two players sound like four. Royal Blood, formed in Worthing in 2011, built their whole sound on one idea. Mike Kerr runs his bass through pedals and amps so it sounds like a guitar and a bass at once, while Ben Thatcher drums. That idea has carried them through four studio albums, from Royal Blood in 2014 to Back to the Water Below in 2023.
VaterSon, however, reach the same place by a different road. On stage, the duo leans on live looping, building layers in real time so the songs land with the weight of a full band. Meanwhile, Jimmy covers the guitar and bass parts, and André drives the drums. Reviewers have described the result as a wall of sound from two people.

Sweden has sent loud guitar bands abroad before. The Hives, formed in Fagersta in 1993, broke worldwide during the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. VaterSon come from the heavier end of that tradition, and their own reference points say so plainly. On their Facebook page, they point fans of Rammstein, Godsmack and Foo Fighters in their direction.
RockRevival.News Curator Team: “We placed These City Streets in our playlist because it shows what this duo does best. Two players, a few live loops, and a riff that sounds like a full backline is standing behind it.”

Where VaterSon Fit, From Malmö Studio Sessions to Texas Hippie Coalition and the Rock Duo Road
The songs on USA, Vol. 1 span several years of releases. Hello Girl opens the set, and it first appeared with a lyric video in 2023. I Am Alone Again appeared in 2025, and 75 % arrived with an official video at the start of October 2026. Fourth comes These City Streets, the July 2025 single that drew reviews in English and French. Around those, titles such as Eastern Front, Trigger of a Gun and The Wall sit next to more personal ones like Mama and I Am Who I Am.
The catalogue behind them goes back further. The duo posted official videos for White Boy and I’m Not the One in 2022, then Cry Wolf(e) in 2023, each one built on the same two-player set-up. By 2025, Shameless was drawing coverage as far away as Brazil.
In fact, that song shows how VaterSon write. Jimmy wrote the words and the music with André and produced the recording, while André plays the drums. The pair tracked it at AudioSpot studio, and the subject is heavy in every sense: the damage that war and conflict leave behind. The singing carries most of that anger, and the band never softens it with polish.
The father-and-son set-up is the story most people notice first, yet the music is the reason to stay. One review of that single put their tightness down to a 25-year musical partnership between the two. Live looping turns that understanding into something an audience can see happening.
The Acts Around VaterSon, From Texas Hippie Coalition to Royal Blood
The US dates put VaterSon on a bill with Texas Hippie Coalition, the heavy metal band from Denison, Texas, with eight studio albums behind them. On paper, that pairing makes sense. Both bands trade in loud, plain-spoken heavy rock.
For listeners who keep Royal Blood next to Foo Fighters and want something rawer from Scandinavia, start with the track we placed, then play the collection through from Hello Girl.
